Duties
- Assist in maintaining and updating the general ledger using our point of sales software.
- Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits according to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Conduct account reconciliations including bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts to ensure data integrity
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes through balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and vendor communication
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify cash balances against bank statements
- Support budgeting activities by gathering financial data and preparing reports for review
- Contribute to financial report writing by compiling data for internal reports or external audits
- Maintain meticulous records of all bookkeeping activities, including journal entries, transaction logs, and audit trails
- Collaborate with the finance team on technical accounting tasks such as governmental accounting compliance or non-profit accounting procedures when applicable
Requirements
- Proven experience with bookkeeping or accounting roles, ideally within corporate or non-profit sectors
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and general ledger accounting
- Familiarity with GAAP standards and governmental or non-profit accounting practices is a plus
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis and prepare clear financial reports
- Experience with bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, payroll processing, and tax-related tasks
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail; capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Competency in 10 key typing for accurate data entry and record keeping
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within the finance team and across departments
- Knowledge of technical accounting principles relevant to various industries is desirable
