We’re a Wisconsin-based fiber construction contractor hiring a laborer for our underground directional drilling crew in the Green Bay–Appleton area.
You’ll be out in the field helping install fiber-optic conduit and cables – the infrastructure that keeps the internet running. No experience with directional drilling? That’s fine. If you’ve worked construction, landscaping, or any hands-on outdoor job, you already have the foundation. We’ll teach you the rest.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
- Help set up and operate directional drilling equipment on fiber installation projects
- Prepare job sites – locate and mark existing utilities, clear debris, make the site safe and ready
- Handle drilling rods, hoses, conduit, and materials during the boring process
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment as needed on site
- Monitor drilling progress and keep constant communication with the drill operator
- Load/unload materials and equipment, backfill trenches, and restore job sites when the work is done
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on equipment and tools – take care of your gear
- Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures every single day
What We’re Looking For
- Physically fit – you can lift 50 lbs, work on your feet all day, and handle Wisconsin weather year-round
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong work ethic – you show up every day ready to work, no excuses
- Team player – you communicate well and have your crew’s back
- Willing to learn – we’ll train you on the drilling equipment and fiber installation process
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Bonus Points (Not Required)
- Previous construction, excavation, or underground utility experience
- Familiarity with directional drilling or horizontal boring equipment
- CDL or willingness to get one (we can help with that) (extra pay)
- OSHA 10 certification
- Experience with utility locating
