About the Company
We are seeking a Principal Deltek Costpoint Functional Consultant to serve as a senior functional leader and trusted advisor for government contracting clients. This role is ideal for a Costpoint professional with 10 years of hands-on experience who have led multiple Costpoint implementations or have deep experience supporting internal and client project teams to complete related implementation activities.
About the Role
As a Consultant, you’ll guide clients through complex GovCon requirements, training and mentor consulting teams, supporting multiple engagements in a diverse project portfolio. This role is client-facing and will support solving complex problems, working directly with clients, and advising senior leadership across multiple organizations. As an ERP solutions team, this candidate should have general knowledge of other industry specific ERP and accounting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead functional design and configuration for Deltek Costpoint implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects
- Serve as the primary functional point of contact for assigned clients (client-facing)
- Translate business, accounting, and compliance requirements into Costpoint configuration and process design
- Lead discovery workshops, design sessions, and solution walkthroughs with client stakeholders
- Guide clients on GovCon best practices, DCAA compliance, FAR/DFARS, CAS, and audit readiness
- Oversee functional testing, UAT support, and issue resolution
- Review and mentor work performed by junior consultants
- Collaborate with project managers to manage scope, risks, and client expectations
Configure and support core Costpoint modules including GL, Project Accounting, Time & Expense, Billing, Labor/Leave, AP, and AR to include:
- Company Setup Activities
- Accounts / Organization Structures
- Customers, Vendors
- Project Setup & Configuration
- Project Structures, Revenue & Billing Formulas, Funding, Ceilings, etc.
Support billing setup and processes, including:
- Contract types such as T&M, CPFF, and Fixed Price (FP)
- Ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract requirements

- Revenue Processing
- Revenue Redistribution
- Project Transfers
- Organizational Changes
- Standard Project Related Reports
- Historical Information / Prior Year History / Cumulative Values / Beginning Balances

Other Key Responsibilities:
- Support reporting and analytics needs, including Cognos (preferred)
- Develop and enhance project reporting, providing actionable insights for program and financial management
- Support month-end close processes, including:
- Account reconciliations
- Unbilled analysis and reconciliation
- Assist with leave setup and configuration, and troubleshoot related system issues
- Provide hands-on training and guidance to accounting and finance teams
- Act as a trusted business advisor, delivering practical, compliant, and scalable solutions
- Work directly with senior leadership, providing clear recommendations on system setup, accounting practices, and process improvements aligned with industry standards (FAR/DCAA)
- Leverage advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements and best practices
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment
Qualifications
- 10 years of hands-on Deltek Costpoint functional experience specifically related to implementation.
- Deep expertise in Deltek Costpoint (implementation, configuration, or advanced user experience)
- Strong background in government contractor accounting (FAR, DCAA compliance)
- Experience leading Costpoint implementations or major enhancement initiatives
- Deep knowledge of project accounting, labor processing, billing, and revenue recognition
- Ability to lead client-facing discussions and provide strategic guidance
- Affective communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive leadership
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, etc.)
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a client-facing environment
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Consulting experience supporting multiple clients
- Experience with Cognos Analytics reporting & dashboards (Costpoint Business Intelligence)
- Experience with Costpoint Extensibility, workflows, and approvals
- Exposure to Deltek Time & Expense, Vantagepoint, or Subcontractor Management
- Experience in a consulting or multi-client environment
- Experience supporting system implementations or migrations
- Familiarity with data analytics or dashboarding
Salary : $95,000 - $105,000
