Senior Credit Analyst

The Senior Credit Analyst underwrites commercial and commercial real estate loan requests by reviewing and analyzing financial data, borrower performance and management capabilities to assess credit worthiness, and estimate degree of risk involved in extending credit to commercial customers. This position prepares detailed reports on commercial credit applicants detailing debt service coverage, collateral coverage, payment history, loan relationship, liquidity, leverage, and guarantor strength.

The Senior Credit Analyst is also responsible for overall portfolio management and monitoring; and is accountable for daily administrative operations, including development and updating of processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and communicating the financial, tax, and other documents required to complete accurate cash flow and financial credit analysis.
  • Interpreting and analyzing financial data obtained from borrowers and guarantors. Preparing spreads of financial statements including personal and business tax returns, personal financial statements, credit bureau reports, rent rolls and leases.
  • Completing thorough and accurate Credit Approval Memos for submission to the appropriate Loan Committee members.
  • Making explicit recommendations to Business Lenders and Loan Committee that result in strengthened credit relationships.
  • Monitoring portfolio and conducting renewals and annual reviews. Implementing and monitoring tracking and performance mechanisms.
  • Maintaining portfolio analytics; monitoring and reporting trends; submitting reports for Senior management, Business Loan Committee and Finance review.
  • Assisting with training and mentoring of Credit Analysts and Business Lending Associates.
  • Participating in team projects and initiatives, interfacing with other departments and members on business lending related topics.
  • Assisting the team in designing and implementing efficient, high-quality processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with accounting or finance concentration preferred
  • Three or more years of business lending/analysis experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills; ability to apply financial and statistical principles to financial documents
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work and plan effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of personal and business cash flow analysis
  • Organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality in all business matters
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and in a team environment to achieve goals
