Key Responsibilities
- Organizing, sorting, and transferring goods from one location to another.
- Monitor company packages from the start to finish, ensuring proper packing techniques and shipping practices.
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment:
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- May operate tier-lift truck or use fork truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
- May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment and be designated Returned-Goods Receiving Clerk.
- Follow all rules, regulations and work processes set forth by the company.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties as deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior manufacturing or other experience involving use or operation of equipment is preferred, but not required. Candidates may be required to complete a skills assessment test.
- A valid driver's license and experience with operating a forklift with the ability to maintain certification.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with the public or any levels of employees.
- Employee will be required to work in all areas of the plant; temperatures will vary.
- Some outdoor work may be required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
- Prolonged standing, crawling, kneeling and walking while performing job assignments.
- Safety toed/ slip resistant shoes, safety glasses and earplugs are required on the plant floor.
