Topdrawer is a growing retail company focused on delivering exceptional products and experiences across our stores. We are looking for an early- to mid-career finance professional to join our finance team, learn the ins and outs of our business, and grow into a leadership role.

The Assistant Controller will serve as the right hand for the finance department, helping maintain accurate financials while driving insights that inform business decisions. This role is ideal for a high-potential professional who wants to step into a hands-on role with visibility into all aspects of finance, accounting, and operations, with a path to leading the department.
- Support month-end close and prepare accurate P&Ls, balance sheets, and other financial reports
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of financial data
- Learn and document current financial processes and policies from outgoing Treasurer
- Partner with VP of Operations to maintain internal controls and monitor compliance
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Track key business KPIs (AOV, CV, sales per hour, labor %) and prepare actionable insights
- Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth
- Support ad hoc financial projects as needed
- Manage and mentor staff accountant(s)
- Help build scalable financial processes as the company grows
- Step into a leadership role as the department evolves
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in accounting/finance
- Fluent in GAAP accounting
- Experience with Netsuite preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or Master’s in Finance preferred
- Hands-on experience with:
- Month-end close and P&L reporting
- Budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Accounts payable/receivable and general ledger management
- Experience in consumer goods / retail a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced team and taking ownership of projects
- Growth-oriented mindset and interest in eventually leading a finance department
- High visibility into all aspects of finance and business operations
