Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Unix Administrator with 10 years of enterprise experience to support mission-critical infrastructure for a large-scale client environment. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in Unix/Linux administration, production support, automation, system performance tuning, and infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Unix/Linux servers in production, QA, and development environments.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal system health.
- Perform OS installation, patching, upgrades, and security hardening.
- Troubleshoot complex operating system, hardware, storage, and application issues.
- Manage user accounts, file systems, permissions, and access controls.
- Perform system backups, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
- Support high-availability environments and perform performance tuning.
- Coordinate with application, database, network, and security teams to resolve production incidents.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and operational standards.
- Participate in on-call support and scheduled maintenance activities.
Required Skills
- 12 years of experience in Unix/Linux Administration.
- Strong administration experience with one or more of the following:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- AIX
- Oracle Linux
- Solaris
- Strong knowledge of:
- Shell Scripting (Bash/Korn Shell)
- Linux Kernel fundamentals
- LVM and file system management
- NFS, SAN Storage, and Multipathing
- TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, LDAP
- Experience with server performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with system monitoring tools such as Splunk, Nagios, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar.
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible is preferred.
- Familiarity with VMware or virtualized server environments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
