What are the responsibilities and job description for the STUDENT EMPLOYEE - Campus Center Operations Staff (fall 2022) position at Ithaca College?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service while working independently, answering phone calls, online chat, and assisting people who walk up to the Information Desk.
- Possess knowledge of events happening around the College as well as department locations and their responsibilities, faculty and staff roles and responsibilities at IC.
- Master phone system and procedures including answering multiple calls that come in at the same time, forwarding, unforwarding, and transferring calls.
- Demonstrate outstanding problem solving skills to utilize internet and college resources to answer challenging questions about Ithaca College and the surrounding community in a timely and correct manner.
- Manage the college Lost and Found, which includes tagging, tracking, and retrieving lost items.
- Oversee all activities in the Recreation Center, ensuring that customers are utilizing equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Assist in setting up tables, chairs, stage pieces, and other equipment for all events that take place in the Campus Center.
- Have thorough knowledge of where set-up equipment is stored in the building, proper and safe use of equipment, and working knowledge of set-up terms and styles.
- Attend weekly meeting, as well as training in the fall and spring, prior to the start of classes.
- Be willing to work late nights, early mornings, weekends, holidays, and breaks.
Students can expect to work 2-3 two-hour shifts per week on weekdays and will also be scheduled on a rotation basis for weekend shifts. Staff are also expected to attend weekly staff meetings on Tuesdays at 12:15pm unless there is an academic conflict. Set-up shifts and duties will be scheduled via sign-up each week as the shift times vary. Training will take place for 1-2 days prior to the beginning of each semester.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 2.5 GPA and good judicial standing
• Customer service and phone skills
• Positive attitude
