Position: SQL Server developer with AWS Cloud Migration Upgrade experience

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Developer with extensive experience in database upgrades and cloud migration to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL Server development, expertise in upgrading database versions, and hands-on experience with AWS cloud services to support our cloud migration initiatives and ongoing database management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Lead and execute database upgrade projects from older versions of SQL Server to newer releases, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Migrate existing on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS cloud environments, such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, or EC2-based solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design effective database schemas, stored procedures, scripts, and queries.
- Implement and monitor database security, backup & recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Develop automation scripts and processes for deployment, backup, and maintenance tasks.
- Document database architecture, procedures, and standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Provide technical guidance on best practices for cloud-based database architecture and migration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a SQL Server Developer with at least [10] years working on SQL Server versions 2012, 2016, 2019, or later.
- Hands-on experience with database upgrades, including planning, testing, and executing upgrades.
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services relevant to database hosting and migration (Amazon RDS, Aurora, EC2, S3).
- Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with AWS CLI, CloudFormation, or other automation tools is a plus.
- Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployment.
- Knowledge of other cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
