Job Description
General Statement of Function: The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in recruiting, coordinating, assigning, supervising, communicating, evaluating, organizing and instructing all phases of the assigned sport. All coaches may be required to perform other duties which may include, but are not limited to, instruction, academic support, student activities and Fitness Center.
Duties And Responsibilities
Recruit and supervise student-athletes with integrity and with a professional attitude.
Be knowledgeable of and abide by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) rules and regulations.
Assist in monitoring class attendance and progress toward graduation.
Monitor all student-athletes' conduct and behavior in the classroom, student housing and college-related events on- and off-campus and use appropriate discipline when necessary.
Assist in room checks, curfew and academic support programs for student-athletes.
Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing and setting up practices -- operate in a manner to provide quality instruction and conditioning.
Actively assist the Head Coach in coaching during practices and games.
Supervise and organize equipment rooms and staff.
Assist with film editing and breakdown.
Assist with film exchange and scouting teams.
Assist the Head Coach in game-day preparations -- help receive and assist visiting teams.
Assist the Head Coach and Director of Athletics with all drug screenings, medical claims and insurance forms.
Assist the Head Coach in coordinating all physical examinations for student-athletes.
Secure all facilities following practices and games.
Actively monitor and help maintain all facilities and report maintenance needs and issues to the Head Coach promptly.
Assist the Head Coach with statistics for the athletic program.
Attend local and state athletic meetings of the assigned sport.
Participate in institutional fundraisers and actively seek fundraising opportunities for ICC's athletic program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
