Primary Expectations Include The Ability To
- Work collaboratively with engineering staff to solve practical geomechanics and soil-structure interaction problems with a focus on civil infrastructure.
- Perform advanced numerical modeling using FLAC3D (and other ITASCA codes), analyze results, and communicate findings effectively to clients.
- Support the design and assessment of foundations, retaining systems, tunnels, underground structures, and embankments.
- Contribute to business development through proposal preparation and client engagement.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Be self-directed, managing and completing projects on time and on budget.
- Travel as required to visit client sites and attend conferences, up to 10% of the time.
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in geomechanics and structural fields.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience with civil infrastructure projects.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with geotechnical and structural numerical modeling applied to civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with numerical modeling software, including FLAC3D.
- Strong understanding of soil-structure interaction, constitutive modeling, and stress-strain behavior of geomaterials.
- English proficiency for professional communication.
- ITASCA may provide employment-based visa sponsorship (e.g. H1-B, L-1, TN, etc) for this role, subject to business needs, candidate qualifications, and immigration regulations.
- Familiarity with ITASCA software other than FLAC3D.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD or Rhino.
- Familiarity with Python for scripting and automation.
- Project experience in tunnels, embankments, or deep foundations.
- Demonstrated mentoring of junior engineers.
- Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
