What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Math Coordinator position at Itasca Elementary?
Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program in mathematics. Plan, implement, and evaluate the campus program for students. Collaborate with campus staff, parents and outside personnel as needed to provide educational opportunities for students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for Mathematics
Advanced training in mathematics education
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Ability to interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Primary focus will be at elementary level
Experience:
Five years’ teaching experience in math
Administrative experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
- Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
- Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area.
- Plans, improves, and oversees testing programs for the assigned subject area.
- Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area.
- Maintain a staff library of publications, supplementary materials, and supplies relevant to the assigned subject area.
- Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
Staff Development
- Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area.
- Lead staff development specifically for math teachers
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Serve as a mentor teacher for new teachers.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
Professional Growth/Development and Other
- Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position
