JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Custodian
Status: Part-time Non-Exempt
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Property & Grounds Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all assigned areas. The YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring guide all YMCA programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum assigned areas.
- Garbage removal
- Advise management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
- Perform minor repairs, painting, and other tasks as assigned.
- Operate floor care equipment, including floor scrubber, vacuums, and buffer.
- Respond to custodial/maintenance emergencies as necessary.
- Substitute for other custodial/maintenance staff as needed.
- Develop positive relationships with members and staff.
- Properly providing security to the building (opening and/or closing)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Within 30 days of hire, complete Adult and Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (paid training).
- Desire and ability to assist staff and members.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needs arise.
- Must have ability to work independently without supervision.
- While performing duties of the job, the employee is often required to climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit or stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, and shovel.
- Strong, positive team player.
- Punctuality and dependability a must.
