About the Role:
The Audio Visual Technician plays a critical role in the successful execution of live events by managing and operating audio and visual equipment to ensure high-quality sound and visual experiences. This position requires the technician to collaborate closely with event planners, clients, and other technical staff to set up, test, and troubleshoot AV systems before and during events. The technician is responsible for maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and adapting quickly to any technical challenges that arise in dynamic event environments. By delivering seamless AV support, the technician enhances audience engagement and contributes to the overall success and professionalism of each event. This role demands a proactive approach, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to meet the diverse needs of events across various venues and formats.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Warehouse duties including, but not limited to, general maintenance, assembling AV for work orders, loading and unloading trucks, delivery and pick-up.
- Assist others with the setup and removal of AV.
- Tape down and organize loose wiring and cable.
- Ensures all AV is clean and fully operational.
- Labels damaged or broken AV and communicates AV problems to manager/supervisor.
- Set-up, operate and troubleshoot all AV/projection/lighting/conferencing equipment, devices, and systems.
- Provide or oversee the provision of Services for meetings and special events.
- Takes ownership of client interactions at events and ensures satisfaction
- Communicates AV added, not used or “cancelled” by clients OTJ to manager/supervisor.
- Assist and instruct clients regarding proper usage and operation of AV.
- Monitor AV operation at appropriate intervals during meetings and special events.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to affect repairs and/or maintain AV before, during and after use.
- Engage with external suppliers.
- Assist sales in identifying Services needed and gathering venue specific information for upcoming meetings and special events.
- Collaborates with others or conceives and presents ways to improve Services, meetings and special events.
- Specifying the appropriate Services to execute client meetings and special events.
- Research new AV technology and recommend purchases to management
- Train and support workplace associates to become proficient using AV technology.
- The AVT must be willing or able to flex work hours to attend and support events outside of normal business hours.
- And, of course, all other duties and responsibilities assigned AVT
Education and/or Experience High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or technical school required. Not less than 2 years’ experience working in live meeting and special events (corporate AV). Related experience (i.e. studio/sports/live music) is not applicable. Or, three to five years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, feel stand, walk, sit, and handle tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, knell, crouch, and crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs; frequently lift and/or move 100 lbs; and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. Must be able to drive ITA or personal vehicles as assigned.
