Title: Infrastructure Engineer (W2 or 1099)
Pay Rate: $55.00-$65.00/hour Max 1099 Rate: $75/ Hr.

Duration of the Contract: 12 Months

Work Location: Role is hybrid (2 days onsite per week)
Candidate location: Candidate must be a CURRENT SC or NC or GA or TN resident.
Major Responsibilities
• Lead and support SC DSS initiatives to migrate file and application storage to Azure cloud storage solutions.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the Agency’s Azure/cloud storage environment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Support secure connectivity and performance across Agency devices, partner endpoints, and the State Data Center.
• Ensure effective integration of Agency application services hosted at the SC Department of Administration.
• Administer user/group access, data archiving, password controls, and security configurations for shared resources.
• Evaluate system interactions, dependencies, and impact of changes across the cloud and hybrid environment.
• Conduct system analysis and usability testing to enhance reliability, scalability, and security posture.
• Assess cloud storage decisions and communicate technical implications to management and project teams.
• Identify and communicate Azure capabilities and requirements within the broader Agency system architecture.
• Support development and operations frameworks for MS DevOps-aligned system development and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Security, Network Services, End User Support, and Communications teams to design and deploy secure Azure infrastructure.
• Implement and monitor security countermeasures aligned with State and Federal requirements.
• Provide after-hours and weekend support for scheduled maintenance activities.
• Mentor junior technical staff.
• Utilize virtualization and remote administration tools for diagnostics and system management.
• Administer fax communication systems, ensuring secure and reliable operation within Agency workflows.
• Administer enterprise storage systems involving access control, lifecycle management, capacity planning, and data security.
• Deploy and maintain monitoring tools, system agents, and supporting utilities across servers and workstations.
Required Skills

• 2–4 years of experience with Azure Cloud and Virtualization; Microsoft 365 and Office 365
• 2–4 years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory
• 2–4 years of experience with open-source frameworks such as ASP.NET
• 2–4 years of experience with PowerShell
• 3 years of experience with Proofpoint
• Datacenter and network infrastructure experience
• User/group management, authentication, and security policy (GPO) administration
