We are looking for up to a Senior level engineer. This position will start in either Plymouth, Michigan or Sunnyvale, California, with a planned relocation to our Sunnyvale, California office.
Job SUMMARY
Designs, develops, and maintains simulation toolchains, CI/CD infrastructure, and data triage workflows for Autonomous Driving (AD) software verification and validation. Builds scalable simulation environments, automating workflows, and managing large datasets from both simulation and on-road tests to ensure high-quality development and deployment of AD systems. This position requires expertise in software development, DevOps practices, simulation frameworks, and data engineering, with a passion for enabling robust autonomous driving solutions. Works closely with global Isuzu teams and AD suppliers to ensure safe and reliable deployment of autonomous functions. Depending on the experience level, position might work under close supervision from more senior staff and follow established procedures or independent judgment is required and can guide junior staffs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineer I
50% 1. Maintains and enhances simulation frameworks used for autonomous driving (AD) software verification and validation by following established procedures and senior staff direction.
15% 2. Supports the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment of AD software. Learns best practices in DevOps.
15% 3. Performs data triage for simulation and on-road tests, including filtering, labeling, and preparing datasets for ML model training and system evaluation.
15% 4. Collaborates with internal and external teams on infrastructure and simulation requirements. Supports virtual and real-world testing.
5% 5. Participates in the review of emerging technologies for simulation, DevOps, and data management.
6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Engineer II
50% 1. Maintains and implements simulation frameworks for AD software verification and validation.
15% 2. Reviews, designs and implements CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment of AD software.
15% 3. Performs data triage for simulation and on-road tests, including filtering, labeling, and preparing datasets for ML model training and system evaluation.

5% 5. Researches and evaluates emerging technologies for simulation, DevOps, and data management.
6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Senior Engineer
40% 1. Researches the state-of-the-art technologies for autonomous driving (AD) software development and deployment process and leads to implementing the necessary toolchains.
20% 2. Researches and leads the implementation of data close loop for autonomous driving and machine learning system through development and deployment.
15% 3. Performs Autonomous Driving software verification and validation before the release.
15% 4. Collaborates with internal and external teams on infrastructure and simulation requirements. Supports virtual and real-world testing.
10% 5. Maintains the CI/CD, DevOps and data management pipelines.
6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Supervisor, Model Based Development - Advanced Engineering
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science or any related field. PhD preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of autonomous driving or robotics, programming, or DevOps.
- Previous experience with data operation and triage.
- Academic focus or coursework in autonomous driving, robotic systems, machine learning infra and pipeline, AI development and deployment (ML/DL/RL/VLM/LLM) preferred.
- Previous experience with vehicle dynamics, simulation and/or data pipelines preferred.
KNOWLEDGE
- Foundational understanding of autonomous driving software stacks (perception, planning, control, localization)
- Knowledge of data pipeline and AI development and deployment process
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins/Buildkite, Bazel, Git workflows, Clouds).
- Basic knowledge of scenario-based testing and system verification and validation processes.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent PC skills in Microsoft Office
- Strong programming skills in Python and C .
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to independently research and clearly structure safety analysis methods
- Excellent communication skills capable of explaining complex safety concepts to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with ML development and evaluation tools (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, CUDA, TensorRT, TorchServe ) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional, global teams
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less. Requires occasional light lifting (5-25 lbs). Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot and cold weather extremes.
Position requires up to 5% travel, mostly domestic. Occasional overnight or weekend trips; rare chance of international travel.
We are looking for up to a Senior level engineer. The pay scale for an Engineer I in this role is $85,315 to $108,777. The pay scale for an Engineer II in this role is $94,695 to $120,737. The pay scale for a Senior Engineer in this role is $105,118 to $134,025. The base salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, such as relevant experience and education.
