JOB SUMMARY
Focusing on AD (autonomous driving) and ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) testing and development, validate the safety and reliability of self-driving vehicle and driver-assist technologies through real-world and simulated tests. Responsibilities include operating vehicles in various conditions, monitoring ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, logging data, identifying issues, and providing feedback to engineering teams. Expected to develop advanced Vehicle Dynamics models to support AD and ADAS-based testing and development activities by utilizing state-of-the-art MBD approaches. Contribute as a cross-functional team member between different CV organizations to collect necessary information to successfully establish autonomous driving vehicle projects for Isuzu. Learn safety standards to support the establishment of autonomous driving projects by working with third-party institutions, universities, and seeking necessary guidance from senior staff. Communicate with the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Engineering team and report to management of the CV Testing & Validation team and the Advanced Engineering team as necessary.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
30% 1. Develop Vehicle Dynamics model using MBD approach to test and develop the ADAS and AD system framework. Support developing safety standards by collaborating with third party institutions and universities.
30% 2. Support establishing ADAS based data collection road map by working with third party institutions. Log test data, identify anomalies and faults, and create detailed reports documenting system performance for engineering teams. Work closely with software and hardware engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements based on testing feedback.
30% 3. Drive vehicles equipped with ADAS or autonomous systems on predefined routes and in different environmental conditions to evaluate performance. Observe and assess features such as lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and other automated functions.
10% 4. Assists collections and processing of virtual and/or physical vehicle and performance and emissions-related data and communicates results to appropriate personnel.
5.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Senior Manager, CV Testing & Advanced Engineering - Vehicle
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- Master’s degree in engineering
- Direct coursework in internal combustion/ BEV / Alternative powertrains / Robotics preferred
- Seminar/industrial training in specialty preferred
- Minimum three years’ experience in automotive research and development, concentrated experience in automotive development.
- Preferred working experience with ADAS / AD testing area.
- Experience in GT-Suite, IPG and MATLAB/Simulink preferred.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of automotive products, Sensors and Actuators.
- Familiarity with vehicle dynamics and the principles behind ADAS and autonomous driving systems.
- On-the-Job Training to gain knowledge in the concept of Safety Case, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), and FuSa and design optimization by MBD.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Basic skills in Microsoft office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot problems, and provide clear, concise feedback.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with laptops, relevant software (like Office Suite), and potentially automotive testing tools.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to convey findings and collaborate with engineering teams.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
Employees must be able to perform occasional light lifting (5-25 lbs.) and rare heavy lifting (60 lbs.). Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot, cold, and high-altitude extremes.
Position may require up to 10% travel, including overnight and weekend stays.
Pay scale for this position is between $85,315.00 and $108,777.00. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
