If so, the Military-Affiliated Student Center within the Dean of Students Office at Iowa State University is currently seeking applicants for the role of Military-Affiliated Student Services Specialist! This position will be classified as a Student Services Specialist II. What You'll Do: Administer programs and services with a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of military-affiliated students, ensuring effective support. Supervise graduate assistants and co-supervise student office assistants, including oversight of hiring and onboarding processes. Conduct regular training, professional development sessions, and performance evaluations. Meet individually with student employees to set goals, address concerns, and provide career mentoring that fosters transferable skills and career readiness. Oversee the coordination and execution of events held in the Military-Affiliated Student Center (MASC) throughout the academic year, fostering community engagement and student development. Participate in the development and assessment of departmental co-curricular initiatives to enhance student engagement and success. Serve as the webmaster and content manager for the MASC website, ensuring timely updates and accurate information. Monitor and manage the MASC email account, providing prompt, thoughtful responses to stakeholder inquiries and forwarding messages to appropriate personnel as needed. Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Veterans and/or military-affiliated populations. Experience working in student affairs within higher education. Experience supervising students and/or staff. Experience advising students and/or student organizations. Experience with community outreach and/or promotion of a program. Master’s degree.
