What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cloud Support Engineer position at iStaff?
This role is responsible for automating, organizing, monitoring, and maintaining data center operations across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate brings a strong systems administration foundation and hands-on experience supporting AWS infrastructure, with the ability to operate effectively in an Agile environment.
What you’ll do:
- Build, support, and optimize infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Monitor and manage LAN/WAN devices including switches, access points, and firewalls
- Oversee data center operations supporting enterprise IT applications
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for the Service Desk to ensure timely resolution
- Apply critical security patches and coordinate system updates
- Manage Azure Active Directory and on-premises Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Recommend and implement infrastructure improvements for performance and uptime
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
What you’ll need:
- 5 years of experience as a Firewall, Network, or Systems Administrator
- 2 years of AWS infrastructure deployment and support experience
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar) preferred
- Strong background in firewall management and network switch configuration
- Experience with virtualization platforms, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
