Main St Lift Bridge Operator

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES FOR BRIDGE TENDERS

1) Must be at least 18 years old

2) Must be capable of lifting between 20 and 40 pounds of weight.

3) Must be able to stand and/or walk as required to fulfill your job duties? Distance to and from the bridge parking area may be lengthy.

4) Must be able to bend and stoop repetitively

5) Must be able to function in a very hot or cold environment

6) Must be able to climb up and down ladders and bridge stairs into and around bridge houses.

7) Must have 20/40 corrected vision or better.

8) Must be able to distinguish red, amber and green colors or lights.

9) Must be able to hear a forced whisper from 5’ with or without hearing aid or hear frequencies from 500 to 6,000 hertz plus 15 DB.

10) Must not have any impairment that would hinder you from performing this job based on the above listed physical requirements.

11) Must have a valid phone number, a working cell phone or home telephone, and answer it.

12) Must have dependable transportation

13) Must be able to read and comprehend FDOT and US Coast Guard manuals, rules, regulations, and procedures (classroom and on-site testing)

14) Must be able to keep logs and records in accordance with FDOT procedures in correct, legible English.

15) Must be able to effectively communicate on VHF marine radio.

16) During abnormal situations must be able to act rationally.

17) Must have a High School Degree

18) Must be able to pass Background, Physical, Drug and Alcohol Testing

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.95 - $11.00 per hour
