About Us
ICRF supports the best and brightest scientists conducting groundbreaking cancer research in Israel with the goal to end the suffering caused by cancer. We are the largest non-governmental funder of cancer research in Israel. Our research has been instrumental in the development of breakthrough FDA-approved drugs, such as Gleevec, Doxil and Velcade, as well as in treatments related to nano-medicine, immunotherapy, stem cell research and targeted therapies. Since our inception, we have funded over 2,800 grants totaling just over $98 million. Our research continues across all the leading Israeli institutions. ICRF funded researchers have been awarded 2 Noble Prizes in Chemistry, 5 Israeli Prizes and 2 Lasker Awards.
The Opportunity
The New York / New Jersey Director of Development is a frontline fundraiser who is a self-starter and passionate about our mission and knows how to get in front of people to drive growth. This person will work closely with the Executive Director and be responsible for developing and executing the organization's fundraising strategy in this market.
Primary Responsibilities
- All day-to-day fundraising and business activities for the defined market
- Cultivate new revenue opportunities through new donor prospecting and re-engaging lapsed donors
- Establish a high functioning local Advisory Board
- Work with Executive Director to identify and steward major giving in market
- Implement and maintain events as warranted to support the revenue strategy
- Create compelling cases of support and implement related cultivation and stewardships plans
- Actively represent the organization and its mission
- Development of short- and long-term fundraising plans to meet revenue goals
- Help identify and establish new sub-markets and constituencies
Experience and Skills We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising and special events
- Proven track record overseeing a $2 million fundraising portfolio involving peer-to-peer fundraising, major gifts, events and sponsorships
- History of cultivating and closing multiple five, six and seven figure annual gifts
- Comfortable with making face-to-face fundraising asks
- Related nonprofit experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Demonstrates ability to develop and steward positive relationships with donors
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities at one time
- Advanced working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office 365 Suite, especially excel
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market and work evenings and weekends as needed
- CRM knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of digital, social media and emerging online channels
