Food Safety Quality Specialist
Location: 9 Elkins Road, East Brunswick, NJ 08816
On-site, 5 days per week (no remote work available)

Position Summary

The Food Safety & Quality Specialist supports the maintenance of the facility’s Food Safety and Quality Management System in accordance with SQF, HACCP, FDA, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role focuses on quality documentation, certification support, customer inquiries, audit preparation, and continuous improvement activities. The position works closely with the QA Director and cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing compliance with food safety and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update food safety and quality documentation, including procedures, forms, records, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Support the SQF Food Safety and Quality Management System, including HACCP plans, prerequisite programs, GMP programs, allergen management, traceability, and corrective action programs.
  • Assist with SQF certification activities, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party audits, including preparation and follow-up documentation.
  • Respond to customer requests, questionnaires, and technical inquiries by providing specifications, certificates, food safety documents, and other required information.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations by collecting information, supporting root cause analysis, and maintaining corrective action records.
  • Conduct internal document reviews, verification activities, and assigned food safety program checks.
  • Support food safety and quality training activities and maintain training records.
  • Prepare quality and food safety reports, audit summaries, and status updates as required.
  • Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, and other food safety verification activities.
  • Provide general support for quality assurance activities and continuous improvement projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in food manufacturing quality, food safety, or quality systems.
  • Knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, FDA requirements, and food safety programs.
  • Experience with customer questionnaires, technical documentation, audits, and quality records preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with quality management systems and SAP/ERP systems is an asset.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
