Role

This is a hands-on investing role with meaningful responsibility across sourcing, thesis development, diligence, founder relationships, and firm building.

The person in this role will help identify, evaluate, and win investments in early-stage companies across the themes we focus on. We are looking for someone who can generate differentiated opportunities, form independent views, write clearly, engage founders credibly, and help build a repeatable sourcing engine.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing: Build and manage a proprietary pipeline of Series A opportunities in industrial technology, advanced manufacturing, logistics automation, energy infrastructure, and adjacent sectors.
• Founder and investor relationships: Develop deep relationships with founders, angels, accelerators, and co-investors across the real-economy startup ecosystem.
• Industrial network: Build relationships with leading industrial and technology companies to stay close to emerging categories, customer needs, and potential breakout founders.
• Market presence: Represent Isogon at industry conferences, technical forums, and ecosystem events relevant to our investment themes.
• Thesis development: Develop and refine investment theses around where technology and industry shifts are creating the conditions for important new companies to emerge.
• Diligence: Lead commercial and technical diligence on prospective investments, including market sizing, competitive analysis, customer reference calls, and risk assessment.
• Investment evaluation: Evaluate founding teams, business models, valuation, ownership, risk/reward, and portfolio construction fit.
• Investment memos: Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to the partnership.
• Portfolio support: Help portfolio founders access Isogon’s network of industrial companies to accelerate customer development, design partnerships, and strategic relationships.
• Firm building: Contribute to Isogon’s external presence, LP reporting, fundraising support, and other firm-building activities as the platform grows.

Qualifications

Required

• 3–8 years of experience in venture capital, growth equity, investment banking, or operating roles at technology or industrial companies.
• Demonstrated passion for startups and genuine belief in founders and the startup ecosystem, evidenced through work, writing, investments, or community involvement.
• Ability to evaluate technical products and engage credibly with engineers, founders, and operators.
• Exposure to financial modeling and investment analysis.
• Track record of building relationships and sourcing opportunities proactively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and a bias toward action.

Preferred

• Prior operating experience at a hardware, manufacturing, logistics, energy, or industrial software company.
• Technical background in engineering, applied sciences, or equivalent demonstrated technical fluency.
• Existing network within the industrial startup ecosystem, including founders, operators, or domain experts at leading industrial or technology companies.
• Experience working in a lean or early-stage fund environment.
