Position Summary
iSMA Controlli US is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Building Automation Senior Sales Engineer to drive business growth throughout the US and Canada. This role combines technical expertise with consultative selling to develop and expand relationships with distributors, OEMs, system integrators, mechanical contractors and consulting engineers.
The ideal candidate has proven experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, and smart building technologies and fully appreciates the value that technology leadership achieves in driving customer adoption.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with our distribution channel partners and assist them in growing their business with system integrators and mechanical contractors.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities throughout the US and Canada.
- Help ISMA Controlli US to become the market leader for building automation systems in the Small to Medium Buildings (SMB) segment.
Technical Sales Support
- Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions from our product portfolio.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, presentations, and solution demonstrations.
- Work closely with our technical support team to ensure that customers get the answers they need when using our products.
Market Development
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and market opportunities.
- Promote products through trade shows, customer seminars, webinars, and industry events.
- Provide market feedback to product management to support future product development.
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and opportunity pipelines using CRM tools.
- Support contract negotiations with both new and existing partners.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction at all times.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with customer service, technical support and marketing.
- Assist with training channel partners and customers on product capabilities.
- Support strategic initiatives to expand the company's presence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience across product support, project engineering, and business development within the building automation industry.
- Experience working with distributors, system integrators, consulting engineers and facility owners.
- Ability to understand control sequences, system architectures, and integration concepts including the software tools and applications used to implement them.
- Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% throughout the US and Canada.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for operational technology (OT) environments.
- Existing relationships within the North American building automation ecosystem.
