Isles is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual to serve as Bookkeeper. This position will play a critical role in Isles’ operations by performing daily nonprofit bookkeeping and grant finance support in a timely
manner. We seek an experienced professional with strong analytical, time management and communication
skills who will be adaptable to change and who will thrive in a fast-paced environment. They must welcome
the challenges associated with working in a multi-service organization supported by a large number and type
of grant funding sources. Reporting to the Finance Director, they will have the opportunity to join a dynamic
and highly accomplished team at one of the most innovative and successful nonprofits in the region.
Essential Functions
Work with Finance Team to:
- Prepare cash receipts and disbursements, allocations and distributions, accounts receivable, accounts
payable according to GAAP.
- Complete data entries, account analysis, preparation of schedules, and bank reconciliation.
- Support Grant Managers to prepare and complete financial reporting requirements.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, or annual reports as needed.
- Assist Finance team members with tracking and analyzing expenditures and ad-hoc projects
- Maintain working knowledge of internal policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Finance, Operations and Services teams.
- Assist with year-end audit, 990, and Indirect Cost reporting
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Complete special projects as needed
Base Qualifications for the Position:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or higher preferred
- At least 2 years related work experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
- A solid understanding of GAAP
- Complete discretion with private, personal, and confidential information required
- Expertise in Microsoft Suite; proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word required
- Knowledge of MIP accounting software preferred, accounting software experience required
- Ability to work independently and collegially in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment
- Excellent analytical skills, thoroughness and attention to detail
