What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Marine Technician position at Island Time Watersports Caribbean Llc?
ABOUT RED HOSPITALITY & LEISURE
RED Hospitality & Leisure (Experience RED) is a multi-vertical marine and hospitality operator headquartered in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We run charter operations, ferry services, transportation, destination management (DMC), and concession services across St. Thomas and St. John in partnership with properties including the Westin St. John, Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, Frenchman's Reef, and Hampton by Hilton.
Our fleet spans offshore catamarans, high-speed ferries, center consoles, and personal watercraft — operating across two islands and multiple partner destinations year-round. We are a fast-moving, operationally intensive company and we build careers for people who thrive in dynamic marine environments.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Marine Technician to serve as a roving fleet-support specialist across our multi-destination operations. This is a hands-on, independent role requiring strong diagnostic and repair skills on both inboard diesel and outboard gasoline powerplants, as well as supporting systems including electrical, hydraulics, and drivetrain components.
You will rotate between deployment locations — St. Thomas USVI, St. John USVI, Turks & Caicos, and Key West, FL — on a structured 10-days-on / 5-days-off schedule. Travel, accommodations, and per diem are provided while on deployment.
SCHEDULE & DEPLOYMENT STRUCTURE
Rotation: 10 consecutive days on assignment / 5 days off
Deployment Locations: St. Thomas USVI, St. John USVI, Turks & Caicos, Key West FL
Travel: Flights, ground transfers, and lodging provided during all on-rotation periods
Per Diem: Provided for meals and incidentals while on deployment
Candidates must be based within commuting distance of a qualifying home airport (see Residency & Travel Requirements below). RED will coordinate all travel logistics — your responsibility is to be ready to fly on rotation start dates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and repair inboard diesel engines across catamaran, ferry, and center console hull types
- Diagnose and repair outboard gasoline engines (primarily Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki platforms)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, fluid services, impeller replacements, and zincs
- Troubleshoot and repair marine electrical systems, bilge systems, and instrumentation
- Conduct pre-season and post-season commissioning/decommissioning across fleet
- Coordinate parts procurement, maintain parts inventory logs, and manage vendor relationships on-site
- Support haul-out coordination and work with boatyard partners as needed
- Document all service work in maintenance logs; update fleet status reports daily
- Communicate proactively with on-site operations managers and coordinate with shore-based fleet management
- Maintain a safe, organized mobile work environment; comply with all OSHA and marine safety standards
- Respond to urgent vessel breakdowns and service calls during deployment windows
PASSPORT & INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

- Turks & Caicos (British Overseas Territory): Entry via valid passport; U.S. citizens do not require a visa for stays under 90 days
- Key West, FL: Domestic travel — no passport required, but passport is the recommended ID for all company air travel
- St. Thomas & St. John USVI: U.S. territory — U.S. citizens do not need a passport, but a passport is strongly recommended for seamless travel across all rotation destinations
- Any required visas, work permits, or entry documentation for non-U.S. nationals must be obtained and maintained at the candidate's own responsibility
- Candidates must not have travel restrictions (outstanding warrants, immigration holds, or criminal history) that would prevent entry into any deployment destination
RED Hospitality & Leisure will not sponsor international work visas. All candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States and to enter all deployment destinations without restriction.
