Job Title: Compliance Inspector Helper I
Location: Plymouth, MA
Reports To: President, Dependable Petroleum Services
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Full-Time)
Position Summary
This entry-level position is ideal for motivated individuals looking to begin or grow a career in petroleum compliance and environmental inspection. The Compliance Inspector Helper I supports the inspection and maintenance of underground and aboveground storage tank systems, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and industry regulations. You'll receive hands-on training, work outdoors year-round, and gain exposure to advanced testing equipment, facility inspections, and compliance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with monthly UST (Underground Storage Tank) facility inspections and complete compliance forms.
Perform tank and line testing, spill bucket testing, and change filters in dispensers.
Pump petroleum-contacted water from tank and dispenser sumps.
Check and verify proper placement of leak detectors and sensors.
Assist with the calibration and certification of monitoring and leak detection systems.
Drive company service vehicles to customer sites and assist with compliance testing and inspection services.
Learn and comply with company and environmental safety procedures.
Support equipment troubleshooting, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and professional working environment at all job sites.
Participate in training and certification programs including OSHA 40-hour and API Safety Certification.
Continuously improve technical skills and stay informed of industry regulations.
Qualifications
No prior pump and tank industry experience required – we will train the right candidate.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
Strong work ethic with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions year-round.
Detail-oriented with solid written and observational documentation skills.
Willingness to learn and eventually supervise or train others.
Preferred candidates will have a background in HVAC, welding, or auto mechanic experience.
Milestones & Growth Path
Obtain API Safety and OSHA 40 certifications within the first year.
Eligible for promotion to Compliance Technician II or Compliance Lead Inspector based on performance, skills development, and certification completion.
