Medical Officer

The Medical Officer develops, designs, and manages Quality Improvement projects; assists in the development and implementation of Quality Improvement strategies; and creates techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. Duties to include but not limited to:

• Manages and designs clinical quality improvement projects and their implementation.
• Review medical literature and clinical practice guidelines to identify best practices and develop interventions that support their adoption.
• Participates in data analysis to assess patterns of care or outcomes.
• Collaborate with staff to develop new techniques to measure clinical processes and outcomes in ambulatory care, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals and other settings.
• Serves as liaison between IPRO and the provider community, county and local specialty societies and healthcare institutions.
• Responsible for submission of state and federal deliverables.
• Public speaking and presentation responsibilities to community groups, stakeholders and providers.
• Supervise and oversee the clinical staff and approaches to achieving target outcomes.
• Travel as necessary for recruitment, presentations and meetings, and other business purposes.
• Perform additional duties as required by contracts.

This position is office based at our Jericho, NY office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An understanding of clinical practice patterns with the ability to discuss clinical practices with physicians.
• An understanding of Health Information Technology (HIT) and its role in practice transformation.
• Familiarity with quality improvement principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of epidemiology and of current clinical research and practice guidelines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• An M.D. degree with a license to practice in New York, required. (Candidates who have established eligibility for New York licensure may be considered; licensure must be obtained before appointment).
• Board certified or board eligibility, required.
• An MPH or equivalent degree with emphasis in epidemiology or health services research, preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in public health, health services research, health care quality improvement, epidemiology, health care outcomes research, or related field is required 

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $160,000.00 – $165,000.00. Actual salary range and /or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
