Job Summary
Island Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking a full-time Medical Support Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional care and support to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to perform all general clerical and receptionist duties required for the functioning of the resident/patient care unit.
Key Responsibilities
• Performs all receptionist and clerical duties
• Ability to handle heavy phone volume and multi-task in an organized and efficient manner.
• Receive and direct residents/patients, staff, visitors etc. in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Ability to answer routine questions and/or refer to the shift Supervisor/designee for appropriate answers.
• Receives and attaches reports: laboratory slips, physician's orders etc. (verifying appropriate sign-off signatures(s) prior to filing).
• Thin(s) charts and maintains Medical Records charts as necessary according to established procedure.
• Filing, alphabetizing and typing all unit correspondence as required.
Requirements
• High School Graduate or GED equivalency
• Excellent typing and computer skills
• Two years' experience as a Unit Secretary in a similar setting is strongly preferred
• Ability to read, write and verbally communicate with proficiency in English
• Possession of current NYS C.N.A. certificate required
