SENIOR DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS
Job Summary:
Island Harvest is seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as our Senior Director of Community Health Programs. This individual will supervise department staff and the programs and services that will enable the community to have increased opportunities for healthy food, support and services as well as important information. The incumbent will help ensure the sustainability of the organization, while always looking out for its best interests. Our candidate will also possess the ability to problem-solve, be a strategic thinker and communicate well in both the written word and in public speaking.
The successful candidate will thrive in a very busy and dynamic environment, be able to manage multiple projects at once, continue to advance the organization’s programs and outreach services to new levels of success and be motivated by innovation.
The Senior Director of Community Health Programs reports directly to the Chief Network Alliances and Services Officer and will work closely with the senior leadership team of the organization. This proven leader will support the department team in their work to offer important programs and services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community and build cohesion and coordination across multiple functions and locations while addressing and solving problems.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of successful and progressive experience working in a complex not-for-profit human services, healthcare or related organization.
- At least 4 years’ experience managing a team of professionals.
- Knowledge of outreach services, food assistance programs, hunger-related issues, mental health issues and/or experience with social service agencies preferred.
- Highly effective in interacting with and supporting senior business executives in a professional environment.
- Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Areas of expertise:
- New York State’s Medicaid 1115 Waiver Program is a plus.
- Current trends in programming and services in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Preparing Performance Metrics and Reports
- Creating and managing a budget
- Developing and maintaining community alliances
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
This position requires availability to work Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with occasional afternoon and weekend hours as needed. The role is primarily performed in a general office environment and involves extended periods of sitting and frequent computer use. Occasional travel throughout the region may be required. No relocation package offered.
Salary: $105,000-$115,000/year
