Position Summary
The Assistant Director of US Programs leads the management, expansion, and strategic direction of IRUSA’s domestic portfolio, including grant-management, community engagement, and direct service programming. Key responsibilities include establishing new funding streams, maintaining high-level external partnerships, and ensuring all initiatives align with the organization’s mission and values. Additionally, the role is responsible for overseeing departmental management systems and supervising the US Grants, Programs, and Partner Services teams.
- Defines the long term vision for US Programs, ensuring initiatives are adaptive to socio economic trends and aligned with mission, values, and strategic priorities.
- Oversees the full program lifecycle including targets, timelines, and measures of success while managing business processes, financial practices, and risk management to ensure a sustainable infrastructure.
- Designs and executes plans to expand US programming, identifying new opportunities, negotiating partnerships, and securing sustainable revenue streams to deepen community impact.
- Cultivates relationships with institutional funders and manages the complete fundraising lifecycle, from research and proposal development to budget reporting and case statements.
- Supervises and coaches key management staff, fostering a culture of peer to peer learning, continuous improvement, and positive organizational values.
- Acts as the primary advocate for US Programs, coordinating with executive leadership on public policy and media while partnering with Fundraising, Marketing, and Volunteer divisions to engage donors.
- Contributes to organization wide strategy, budget preparation, and cross departmental working groups to ensure a coherent, integrated approach to domestic work.
- Maintains a documented cycle of learning from design to after action reviews to ensure results and environmental developments are effectively communicated to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least ten years of senior management experience in progressively responsible positions.
- Significant experience in at least one US programmatic area such as social services, grant making, or community development with the ability to quickly master the operational dynamics of others.
- Demonstrated understanding of the US nonprofit sector, including governance structures, business challenges, and capacity development.
- Proven ability to manage cohesive collaborative relationships and leverage professional networks.
- Ability to work effectively in a faith based setting and translate organizational values into programmatic terms.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of responsible risk taking, strong business sense, and the ability to secure and manage revenue streams.
- High degree of awareness regarding US social, economic, and political environments, with the ability to navigate these landscapes successfully.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
