The Islamic Community Center of Gainesville (ICCG) is the oldest mosque in Gainesville, Florida, serving a diverse Muslim population including families, professionals, immigrants, and students from the University of Florida. ICCG is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually enriching environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
ICCG seeks a knowledgeable, compassionate, and community-oriented Imam or Islamic Teacher/Coordinator. The Imam will lead prayers, deliver khutbahs, provide education and counseling, and work collaboratively with the ICCG Board to strengthen religious life and community cohesion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Religious Leadership
- Lead congregational prayers, including 3 daily prayers and Jumu’ah.
- Deliver engaging khutbahs rooted in Qur’an and Sunnah.
- Lead Ramadan programs, including Tarawih.
- Provide guidance for Islamic rituals and funerals.
- Plan and deliver weekly halaqas on Tafsir, Seerah, Hadith, and Islamic studies.
- Plan and organize a weekend Qur’an and Islamic studies school.
- Plan and organize Summer camp to teach Quran and Islamic studies
- Develop and lead programs for youth and reverts.
Pastoral Care & Counseling
- Provide counseling and mediation if qualified.
- Maintain regular office hours.
Youth & Community Engagement
- Mentor youth and young adults.
- Represent ICCG in community and interfaith settings.
Organizational Support
- Collaborate with the ICCG Board and committees.
- Support fundraising initiatives.
- Maintain professional accountability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies or equivalent.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
- Memorization of at least 10 Juz of Qur’an.
- Strong Tajweed and Islamic knowledge.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior Imam experience.
- Hafidh of Qur’an.
- Ijazah or sanad.
- Experience in North American Muslim communities.
- Strong interpersonal and digital skills.
- Team player
- Organizational knowledge and experience in conflict resolution

ACCOUNTABILITY
The Imam reports to the ICCG Board, with the President serving as the primary liaison for evaluation and accountability. This is a contractual position and will be renewed based on performance and yearly evaluation.

The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience, with a range of $ 60,000 to $80,000 annually (negotiable). The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance during the first year.
