Middle School Social Studies Teacher
The Islamic Academy of Alabama is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our team immediately. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping students explore history, civics, geography, and culture through engaging, student-centered instruction.
We are looking for an educator who stays current with the latest teaching methodologies, Alabama state standards, and educational technology, and who can bring creativity and critical thinking into every lesson.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in Social Studies for grades 6–8.
- Integrate technology and digital tools into daily instruction to enhance learning and collaboration.
- Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and discussion.
- Assess student learning using multiple methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages respect, curiosity, and civic responsibility.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid Alabama Teaching Certification or eligibility for certification prefered.
- Knowledge of current teaching best practices, state standards, and instructional technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Kahoot, etc.).
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to student growth and success.
