Summary
The primary responsibility of the Area Manager is to oversee and manage all installations of flooring, tile, cabinetry, and countertop trades across multiple residential construction job sites. This role is critical in ensuring on-time delivery, high-quality installations, adherence to construction schedules, and monitoring the flow and management of materials to avoid delays or shortages. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of construction knowledge, team leadership, and a high level of customer service to support builder relationships and deliver outstanding results in the field.
Essential Functions
Level I:
Oversee and manage all Field Managers, Service Technicians, and Installation Trade Partners and ensure schedules are followed
Serve as main point of contact for all work in builder communities
Communicate with builder area managers and leadership to answer any higher-level questions and resolve any concerns.
Monitor and manage all performance metrics related to field installations, including schedule adherence, material usage, labor efficiency, lot tracking, and quality control.
Level II:
Manage and supervise a team of field managers in a certain territory
Support, train, and coach Field Managers and installation teams to ensure professional development and optimal team performance.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards, company policies, and applicable building codes.
Use data analytics and field metrics to identify operational inefficiencies, resolve problems, and implement process improvements.
HR managerial responsibilities to field managers
Level III:
All Functions included in Level II plus:
Maintain good and productive communication with the builders/customers daily
Resolve production and schedule issues with the builders
Skills & Qualifications
Level I:
5 years of construction management experience or interior finish trades (flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops)
Proven experience leading field teams in a fast-paced residential construction environment.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, project management, and trade-specific installation techniques.
Experience with data-driven performance management and ability to interpret and act on field metrics.
Exhibit sound and accurate judgment, supports and explains reasoning for decisions, includes appropriate people in decision-making process, and makes timely decisions
Ability to resolve conflicts with builders, installers, and organization’s employees
Must have experience leading a team or crew in a construction environment

Level II:
All Qualifications in Level I plus:
Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
Ability to utilize basic math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, linear feet, yardage, and square footage.
Ability to read and comprehend plans, builder communications, training materials, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Proficient with technology tools such as scheduling software, project tracking systems, and mobile/tablet devices.
Higher ability in solving production issues with the builders in the field
Higher ability to resolve homeowner occupied homes issues and problems

Level III:
All Qualifications in Level II plus:
Entry level computer skills and knowledge of basic systems and applications and use of handheld devices and tablets.
Adaptable and flexible to changing business needs

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Frequent travel to active construction sites and occasional office-based work.
Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours/day).
May involve lifting and moving moderately heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
