Role Description


The Server Manager oversees the district’s technology systems, ensuring efficient management and security of all information systems, data center operations, and infrastructure. This role involves leading and developing a dedicated team responsible for server systems and end point device management systems.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 
  • Minimum of three years of experience managing technology systems, data centers, and network security; or an equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating necessary expertise.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

 

Desired Qualifications:  

 

  • Proficiency in managing and securing complex data center environments, server infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and cloud services.
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory, Google Workspace, account provisioning, and security management.
  • Strong understanding of data backup and disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Competency in endpoint management tools, imaging systems, and mobile device management platforms.
  • Familiarity with technology solutions and infrastructure common to educational institutions.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Effective leadership, project prioritization, and resource allocation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong independent working ability, responsive to budgeting and timelines, with a collaborative team approach.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Manage and oversee district-wide data center operations, including hardware installation, software deployment, virtualization, and infrastructure management.
  • Administer and secure account management across Active Directory (AD), Google Workspace, and other relevant platforms.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive data backup, recovery, and archiving strategies ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Schedule and manage regular system updates, patches, upgrades, and security measures for both hardware and software systems.
  • Maintain and manage systems with various operating systems, including windows, linux and others.
  • Support systems related to endpoint device management.
  • Implements and manages mobile devices and related systems.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements to the district’s information systems.
  • Ensure maximum system uptime and responsiveness through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
  • Provide secure and efficient network access to all district users, ensuring robust cybersecurity protocols are consistently applied.
  • Coordinate closely with software and hardware providers for seamless integration, effective support, and secure operation of data systems.
  • Offer effective, timely user support, including advice, troubleshooting assistance, and training.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with vendors and external contractors.
  • Lead, train, and mentor technology server systems staff, fostering professional growth and a high-performance team environment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new and evolving technologies relevant to educational environments.
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and district policies.
  • Manage district-wide endpoint device environments, including device provisioning, imaging, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Develop, implement, and manage procedures for imaging, setup, and support processes for desktop computers, laptops, and Chromebooks, primarily in Windows environments but also including Chrome OS and macOS, and other operating systems such as linux.
  • Oversee management and troubleshooting of district technology equipment, including cell phone provisioning and related logistics.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, work records, and technical inventories.
  • Coordinate equipment transportation and installation logistics across district locations.
  • Participate actively in user training initiatives and disseminate critical technology updates district-wide.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation, including sufficient vision, hearing, and clear verbal communication. Physical activities include walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, lifting (up to 75 pounds), carrying, pushing, pulling, and occasionally handling electrical equipment.

 

Salary Range: Classified Exempt (7EX)

 

Terms of Employment: 12 months
