What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Inverter Quality Engineer position at IS International Services?
The Product Quality Engineer (FQE) supports the Product Quality Manager by executing project-level quality assurance activities for utility-scale BESS projects. This role is responsible for performing field inspections, monitoring equipment delivery and installation, identifying and documenting non-conformances, and supporting corrective action resolution during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
The PQE plays a hands-on role in ensuring civil, mechanical, and electrical installations meet company, contractual, and industry quality requirements, with a strong focus on early detection and prevention of quality issues prior to mechanical completion and commissioning
Key Responsibilities
· Perform on-site quality inspections for BESS projects, including batteries, PCS/inverters, transformers, switchgear, control cabinets, communications, and auxiliary systems
· Support receiving inspections, installation surveillance, and commissioning readiness activities
· Verify construction and installation compliance with drawings, specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and project Quality Management Plans
· Identify, document, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in accordance with company’s policies and procedures
· Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
· Verify effectiveness of corrective actions prior to mechanical completion and handover
· Complete inspection reports, checklists, and field quality documentation accurately and on time
· Support maintenance of the Project Quality Document database and digital inspection platforms
· Provide timely field quality status updates, metrics, and inputs to the Product Quality Manager
· Interface directly with EPC contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, and suppliers on field quality matters
· Support FAT, SAT, and supplier audits as directed by the Product Quality Manager
· Provide feedback on supplier and contractor quality performance
· Execute project quality processes aligned with ISO 9001 and the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology
· Promote a strong quality and safety culture at all times and work locations
Qualifications
Required
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Quality Engineering (or related technical field)
· 5 years of experience in field quality engineering within the energy, power, or renewable industries
· Hands-on experience with electrical power systems used in BESS projects
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, civil plans, and technical specifications
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, civil plans, and technical specifications
· Willingness to travel up to 75% to domestic and international project sites
· Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
· Experience with Tier 1 BESS OEMs and EPC contractors
· Familiarity with UL 9540 / 9540A, UL 1973, IEEE 1547, NEC, IEC standards
· Experience using digital inspection platforms, NCR tracking tools, and dashboards
· Electrical certifications or field commissioning experience
