Job Title: Forklift Operator
Position Overview
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating a forklift and other material handling equipment to move, load, unload, organize, and supply materials across multiple departments, ensuring uninterrupted production flow and a clean, organized facility.
Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and receive incoming materials (steel, aluminum, beams, wood, coil, etc.).
- Transport raw and finished materials between departments (machine shop, wood saw, chair cell, shipping).
- Maintain material organization in designated storage areas and racks.
- Stock production lines with required materials to prevent downtime.
- Assist in receiving, verifying counts, and placing items in correct storage locations.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, empty trash and scrap dumpsters, and support facility upkeep.
- Communicate effectively with leads and other forklift drivers to ensure coordinated workflow.
- Safely operate forklift and comply with all plant safety and PPE requirements.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Support shipping and receiving functions as requested.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong awareness of safety protocols and load handling.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer and inventory system knowledge a plus.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt\Hourly
Compensation: The hourly range for this full-time position is $19-$22 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role. Irwin is happy to offer a full comprehensive benefits package, with insurance coverage starting on the first day of employment.
