Duties
- Review and process medical claims using billing software, ensuring accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Utilize ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to code medical diagnoses and procedures accurately.
- Manage healthcare claims management by tracking claim status, following up on unpaid or denied claims, and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with medical offices to verify patient information, medical records, and insurance details for billing accuracy.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, coding details, and collection efforts within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Communicate effectively with health insurance providers to resolve claim issues and ensure timely reimbursement.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing and payment processes.
Requirements
- Must be experienced in Revenue Cycle management.
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT), and healthcare claims management.
- Strong knowledge of DRG systems, medical terminology, and health insurance policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review complex medical records accurately.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding standards including ICD coding conventions is essential.
