Position Summary
Irwin Backcountry Guides is seeking a Snowcat Driver for our cat skiing operation. This role is guest facing and applicants must have a strong desire to provide exceptional hospitality to high-end clientele while maintaining a professional appearance and safe driving maneuvers. This role requires experience in heavy equipment operations, excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team. The ability to operate a snowmobile is preferred. Clean motor vehicle record is mandatory. Compensation starts at $240 per day, depending on experience, plus tips. Part time Winter positions are available for the season running December through April.
Position Purpose
To safely operate our fleet of snowcats and various on/off road vehicles to support the company's backcountry cat ski operation while providing a high level of hospitality to our guests.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Safely operate company vehicles such as highway vehicles, snowmobiles, and snowcats.
- Regularly execute both pre and post operational inspections on the equipment.
- Help load skis/snowboards after each run into the ski boxes mounted on the side of the cat.
- Maintain the rear compactor bar and stairs by cleaning snow off regularly.
- Assist the OMH department with pre/post trip tasks such as setting guests up with skis, loading provisions and equipment, taking out trash/recycling.
- Communicate with all Eleven Experience and Irwin Guides departments in a professional manner.
- Facility maintenance such as shoveling and snow blowing when required.
- Relay any mechanical issues with the equipment to the maintenance department immediately.
- Assist the maintenance shop with various tasks as needed.
- Follow all company operating protocols and procedures.
Qualifications
- Heavy equipment operating experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work professionally in a multi-faceted group dynamic with different departments and communication demands.

Preferences

- Snowmobile experience.

Work Requirements
- Clean MVR, valid drivers license.
- Obtain limo license with company assistance.
- Basic first aid and CPR.
- Must be willing to work late when necessary to finish a job/meet a deadline.
- Timely arrive to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, keep confidential information confidential, adapt to changing needs.
- Obtain Marker Binding Technician Certification and Salomon Binding Technician Certification.
- Must be able to work outside in challenging winter conditions for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to learn and develop skills as the position evolves.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
