Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Assistant Principal serves as a key member of the school administration team. This role is largely involved with building operations, student wellbeing initiatives, behavior, and attendance. The Assistant Principal is a critical part of the leadership operations team and works cooperatively with corporate administration, teachers, students, parents and the community to support the academic success of our students.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Monitors school climate and contributes to positive school culture in accordance with The Irvington Way.

Serves as the voice of the school in the absence of or along with the Principal.

Oversees all student disciplinary matters in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Assists in strategic planning and event planning as a member of the leadership team.

Is a presence during key times in the school day, which includes arrival duty, lunch duty, and dismissal.

Supports Irvington Community Schools Corporate programs and initiatives as a representative of ICS.

Assists with planning and presentations at staff meetings and professional development as needed.

Participates in the planning and production of official school documents and student handbook.

Attends after-hours school events, such as conferences, open houses and orientations.

Serves as Public Agency Representative for ICS in student case conferences as needed.

Oversees documentation related to behavior management, including but not limited to spreadsheets, student files, and communication records.

Analyzes behavior referral data to identify trends.

Oversees all aspects of school operations.

Communicates with students and families regarding absences and tardies.

Prepares attendance and behavior reports for the IDOE and the charter authorizer OEI.

Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education related field is required.

Master’s degree in school administration and Indiana state administrator’s license is required.

5 years classroom teaching experience is preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to lead people effectively.

Ability to adapt when unforeseen schedule changes or complications arise.

Strong organization and self-motivation skills.
