Position Overview
Irvington Public Schools is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated School Nurse (RN) to support the health, safety, and well-being of students across the district. The School Nurse provides professional nursing services, health education, and emergency care to students and staff, while maintaining compliance with state laws and district policies. The ideal candidate will promote a healthy school environment and work collaboratively with families, staff, and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, emergency care, and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district protocols.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, height, weight, etc.) and maintain accurate student health records.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, school staff, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans (EAPs).
- Promote health and wellness through education, counseling, and prevention initiatives.
- Monitor and manage communicable disease protocols; ensure compliance with immunization requirements and state regulations.
- Support students with disabilities by contributing to 504 plans and IEP meetings when appropriate.
- Respond to school health emergencies and participate in crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain the school health office, including supplies, equipment, and documentation.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and district trainings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by district and building administration.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- New Jersey School Nurse Certification or eligibility to pursue certification as required by the state.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience as a school nurse or pediatric/acute care nursing experience.
- Knowledge of state and federal school health regulations.
- Experience with health documentation systems or student information systems
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
