Position Overview
Irvington Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to provide high-quality instruction to students across designated grade levels. The ideal candidate will foster literacy development, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writing while supporting diverse learners. This position requires collaboration with colleagues, integration of district curriculum, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet students’ varying needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver ELA instruction aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills across assigned grade levels.
- Develop and implement lessons that address the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with disabilities.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and technology integration.
- Assess student learning through formal and informal methods and maintain accurate records of progress.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages literacy and critical thinking.
- Collaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and administrators to enhance curriculum and instructional practices.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and district initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by building and district administration.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate in English, English Language Arts, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, reading comprehension, and writing pedagogy.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students in learning.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in English, Literacy, Education, or related field.
- Experience teaching in a public school setting.
- Familiarity with integrating technology and digital tools into instruction.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and strategies for diverse learners, including ELLs.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
