What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Supervisor (Registered Nurse Preferred) position at IRVINE NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER?
POSITION PURPOSE:
Oversees a group of dedicatied nurses, ensuring they can provide the highest quality of care for residents. Invoiced in monitoring skills & training. Working with doctors, obtaining medications, & maintaining accurate records of treatement. Ensures that resident's personal care needs are being met in accordance with Residents' wishes & Care Plan Objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Current State Licensed Nurse or Registered Nuse with a minimum of 2 years related eperiences; or equivalent comination of education & experience. Ability to communicate, speak, read, & write English with residents & nursing staff. Prior experience as LTC nursing assistant preferred; or equivalent combination of education & experience. Successful completion of State Approved Nursing Assistant Training & Competency Evaluation Program. Good standing in the state registry is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
- Supervise nursing unit & directing staff. Coordinate effective use of personnel, supplies, equipment, & facilities; obtain mediations & medical records to provide safe, efficient, & theraputic care to residents.
- Ensures that residents' who are unable to call for help are checked frequently. Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine residents' needs & ensures call lights are within reach of resident.
- Gives direct resident care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of residents.
- Explains procedures to residents.
- Assists residents as necessary in their activities of daily living.
- Assists residents with bowel & bladder functions, Assists residents in preparation for & transporting to appointments, activities & social programs.
- Assists with lifting, positioning & transporting residents into & out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc., in keeping with specific resident safety needs.
- Provides incontinent care as needed. Dresses resident appropriate to the current weather
- Notifies Supervisor if resident needs clothing.
- Changes bed linens.
- Handles linens according to infection control guidelines.
- Feeds residents requiring help & records meal intake.
- Delivers & documents all snacks & supplements.
- Offers fluids to residents frequently to ensure that residents are hydrated where designated by care plan.
- Reviews & implements daily nursing needs as outlined by resident Care Plan or nurse managers.
- Transports residents or assists residents with mobility needs.
- Turns & repositions bedfast residents, alone or with assistance.
- Takes & records temperatures, blood pressure, pulse rates, respiration rates, height, weight, food, fluid intake & output, as directed.
- Monitors resident's activities and reports any irregularities of resident performance to nurse managers, DON, LNHA.
- Participates in & receives nursing report upon reporting & departing to/from work.
- Reports all changes in residents' conditions to supervisor, DON, LNHA.
- Cleans instruments & equipment and returns to proper area after use.
- Maintains cleanliness of residents units, central bathing area, treatment & supply rooms, workrooms, & linen closets.
- Provides post-mortem care as instructed.
- Accurately records all care as directed.
- Participates & attends periodic in-services & staff meetings.
- Ensures med techs & nurse aides are providing care & following guide lines & policies.
- Understands & adheres to the guidelines of "Residents Rights".
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
