The Greenskeeper I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance and care of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This role supports the maintenance team in delivering high-quality playing conditions through routine turf care, landscaping, and equipment operation, under direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Mow greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas using walk-behind and riding mowers
- Perform basic turf maintenance, including edging, trimming, blowing, raking bunkers, and hand-watering
- Assist with course setup, including moving tee markers, hole locations, signage, and rope placement
- Maintain bunkers by raking, edging, and repairing washouts
- Assist with irrigation system operation, adjustment, and minor repairs
- Help with fertilization, seeding, aeration, topdressing, and pest control activities as directed
- Operate and maintain hand tools and small equipment safely and properly
- Clean and perform basic maintenance on equipment and work areas
- Report equipment issues, safety hazards, or turf conditions to supervisors
- Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and departmental policies
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- 0 - 2 years
- Valid California driver’s license; Maintain continuous vehicle liability insurance as required by state law. (This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company’s MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.)
- The physical requirements for this position include: Below waist lift - 50lbs, Above waist lift - 50lbs, Stooping/work bending over (sustained) - Occasional, Unilateral balance - Average of 20 seconds or more per leg, High step climb (ladder) - Occasional
