Pharmacy Technician (Admixture)-Float
Are you passionate about patient care and ready to make a difference in the lives of those battling cancer? Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our team in a float supporting our Glendale, Goodyear, and Surprise locations.
- What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy, under supervision
- Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization
- Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications
- Accurately calculate dosages and conversions (metric/apothecary systems)
- Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications
- Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal
- Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment)
- Stay current with new medications and protocols
- Travel between locations as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- 2 years of pharmacy experience, including sterile compounding (IV admixture and/or chemotherapy)
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology
- Solid math and dosage calculation skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Oncology experience
- Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB preferred)
- Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems
- Retail pharmacy experience (a plus)
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program
