The salary for this position is $24 - $28 per hour depending on experience.
About this role
As a DOT Compliance Specialist, you will facilitate a company-wide fleet and driver compliance program. The DOT Compliance specialist will oversee local, state, federal, and FMCSA regulatory compliance matters and filings for the organization and its subsidiaries.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including motor vehicle reports.
- Develop and continually improve the organization's DOT compliance program to achieve satisfactory safety performance scores and metrics.
- Lead internal and external compliance reporting, provide compliance advice, conduct compliance investigations, and assist with development and administration of driver education program.
- Maintain and update MCS-150 biennially, and UCR annually, as applicable.
- Serve as an organizational representative in legal matters related to DOT compliance and/or auto liability.
- Manage the vehicle registration and licensure processes.
- Collaborate with management to establish strategies for correcting any deficiencies found in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) or during routine monitoring and/or audit processes.
- Monitor all compliance and non-compliance issues to develop compliance improvement plans, ensuring systematic resolution mechanisms are established in a timely manner.
- Provide support in company mock CSA/DOT compliance audits to maintain audit readiness. Conduct audits of DOT documents for accuracy and completeness, follow up with stakeholders to ensure completion.
- Key stakeholder in developing and coordinating effective DOT compliance training for our stakeholders, as needed
Skills / Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of compliance-related activities, such as driver logs, vehicle inspections, and training sessions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (e.g., report writing, listening, and presentation).
- Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, leadership, and ability to motivate others).
- Ability to handle confidential information and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in compliance management software and MS Office.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in DOT compliance
