The Position
Ironwood Capital is seeking an Investment Analyst or Senior Analyst to join our investment team in Avon, Connecticut. This role is well suited for a candidate with prior analytical experience in finance who is looking to gain hands-on exposure to middle-market private equity across new investments and portfolio company support.
Candidates will be offered the opportunity to join a collaborative working environment with experienced investment professionals as they evaluate private debt and minority equity investments across a variety of businesses and industries. The successful candidate will demonstrate natural curiosity, attention to detail, business acumen, analytical proficiency, strong writing and presentation skills, and cultural fit.
Candidates for this position would be responsible for supporting the following activities:
New Investment Opportunities:
- Review and analyze investment memoranda, business plans, and management presentations
- Build and evaluate financial models, deal structures, and valuation analyses
- Participate in investment due diligence, including primary research and coordination with third parties
- Conduct industry, market, and competitive analyses
- Attend management meetings, as appropriate
- Draft and present deal screening materials and investment committee memoranda
Portfolio Company Oversight and Project Management Support:
- Provide financial analysis and capital structure monitoring and reporting for portfolio companies
- Research market trends and competitive environments as part of exit opportunity analysis
- Opportunities to attend and participate in board meetings
- Support fund-level analysis and reporting
- Write and present internal memoranda to support follow-on investment activity and amendments on an ongoing basis
- Prepare externally viewed material including regular portfolio valuation reports and portfolio company updates for Limited Partner communications
Business Development:
- Support the development and cultivation of key business partner relationships
- Maintain and update the firm’s CRM system
- Contribute to broader firm initiatives, including recruiting, marketing, and fundraising-related projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic performance
- 1-3 years of relevant professional full time or internship experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, commercial lending, transaction advisory, consulting, corporate finance, or other analytical roles
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel required
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and strong work ethic
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment
