Position Title and Summary
- Diesel Technician – Ironhide Equipment
- As a technician, you diagnose and repair diesel engines, gas engines, and heavy equipment to keep customer and company machines operating safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a personal set of required tools and toolbox in safe working condition.
- Recondition and repair equipment and components, including diesel and gas engines, electrical, hydraulic and hydrostatic systems, and related mechanical assemblies.
- Plan methods and the sequence of each assigned repair, then perform the work in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
- Identify, order, and manage parts and materials required for assigned repairs, ensuring proper return and documentation of unused items per company guidelines.
- Complete repairs as assigned, including required cosmetic appearance standards upon completion.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, caring for shop tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical components, and related systems; collaborate with team members on complex issues.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance and reliability of equipment.
- Safely operate hand tools, shop equipment, and welding/fabrication tools as required.
- Maintain accurate, legible records of time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases; ensure all cost items and notes are included on job paperwork.
- Willing and able to travel periodically for manufacturer training, certification and dealership support as business needs require.
- Follow all record keeping procedures and safety protocols; thoroughly write up and close each work order upon completion.
- Return all specialty tools to their proper location in clean, working condition after each job.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school education in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience working with diesel engines, electrical components, hydraulic systems, and hydrostatic drives; ability to read and follow repair instructions and service information.
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull heavy parts and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
- Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude; welding and fabrication experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining safety, quality, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
