Position Summary
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the plant’s production schedule to ensure efficient use of resources, on-time delivery of products, and alignment with customer demand. This role serves as the central link between sales, operations, procurement, and production teams—balancing customer requirements with manufacturing capabilities to drive plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and communicate the plant’s Master Production Schedule (MPS), ensuring alignment with sales forecasts, capacity, and material availability.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, and Operations teams to balance demand and supply requirements.
- Monitor and adjust schedules proactively to address capacity constraints, material shortages, machine downtime, and other disruptions.
- Analyze and maintain accurate lead times, production cycles, and capacity models to optimize workflow.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure raw material availability aligns with scheduled production.
- Partner with production supervisors to manage priorities, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure on-time delivery performance.
- Track schedule adherence, identify variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare and present reports on production performance, capacity utilization, and delivery commitments to leadership.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on scheduling accuracy, lead-time reduction, and efficiency.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of scheduling, planning, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in high-mix, low-to-medium volume production).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced scheduling tools required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of production planning, capacity management, and supply chain principles.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex variables.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across functions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
- APICS CPIM or similar certification preferred.
