The Role
The Assistant Superintendent will support the Superintendent and project team in managing day-to-day onsite construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and schedules. This role plays a key part in maintaining jobsite organization, quality control, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation.
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, project teams, and field personnel to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent with all aspects of onsite construction management, including quality control, jobsite safety, material receiving, and site cleanliness.
- Support the setup and organization of field offices, utilities, equipment, and onsite logistics.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising subcontractor activities, including manpower, materials, equipment, temporary utilities, and work sequencing.
- Coordinate assigned work scopes to ensure alignment between subcontractors and trades.
- Support the completion and management of quality control checklists, inspections, punch lists, and closeout items.
- Assist in identifying and resolving construction challenges, including labor shortages, productivity issues, work sequencing conflicts, and safety concerns.
- Help monitor compliance with project safety requirements and OSHA standards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented when necessary.
- Maintain and support accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings and field records.
- Participate in and support weekly jobsite safety and schedule coordination meetings with subcontractors.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and quality throughout the project site.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, local officials, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to support smooth project execution.
- Support additional field operations and project-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in the construction industry or an equivalent combination of education and field experience.
- Experience supporting commercial or multifamily construction projects preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction sites.
- Ability to stand, walk uneven terrain, climb stairs/ladders, and lift materials as required.
- OSHA 10 Certification required.
Location
Based in Texas, with onsite project presence required.
